Trick or Tear Ass..

These are photos from the actual day of Halloween. He basically ran like a nut around the neighborhood and wouldn't go to anyone's door. Maybe next year. I'm actually okay with it since he's already had a cavity, he doesn't need the candy!

On another note, we've been hearing a lot of different sounds and babble and "Hi" and "Mom" are back. He actually busted out "Hiya, Mommom" the other night which was music to my ears. His parent/teacher conference is this Friday so I'm really hoping to hear some great things.

Boo!

Halloween.

This has always been a holiday that has been hard. We dress him up, and he really has no interest. The costume is usually a fight, he doesn't like something, and it's a big source of frustration.

2010 was the year of no fuss. I tried to think of a costume that was simple, easy. No hats, No zippers, No Fuss.

The winner? Charlie Brown.

Owen had a super cute party at school, they had a parade, he tried to get away, again. He usually sees me and gets his Hulk strength and tries to make a break for it. I felt so bad for his 1:1 Supermonitor, Penny because she got a workout. I've been there. These are the photos from school..

Bowling

Owen's been busy. We've started him in a Special Needs Bowling League that meets right around the corner from us every other Monday. Last week, was the first game. Mondays at 5pm. Owen wasn't sure what to think at first, he refused to wear his bowling shoes so they let him bowl in his sneakers. Once that was done, he was like a fish to water. He loved it!

Lots of photos, as always--Click to enlarge!

Yay, Owen!

We're back

We've been busy the last few months, so for a quick recap:

We're chelating! Yay. We've gone through 1 round, got great results, and now we're in the 2nd round. Our DAN! has determined that Antimony is Owen's Kryptonite. He's chock full of it, so we're hoping to see that go away-- QUICK! Chelating has brought us great direction following, some words and a lot of great eye contact.

Also, we've started Methyl B-12 shots. Owen's had 2 so far, he takes 'em in the hiney like a champ. We can't say we've seen a whole lot of results from it yet, but as usual, fingers crossed!

We also finished our walk. Team Short Man collected $2,220 for Autism Speaks. Photos to come soon..

Let's Ride!

On Monday we got a call that Hippotherapy had be rescheduled from Thursday this week and they had an opening on Monday at 430pm so we took it. What was great about this was that I got to go to therapy! I was really excited about this as it's usually on Wednesdays and I'm at work.

So, off to therapy we went and let me just say that Owen's doing AWESOME! First off, when he gets to Special Strides he lights up! He starts smiling as soon as you get to the front entrance which is just so cute. Then, he charges right into the Main Office and makes himself at home in the playroom while he waits one of his many girlfriends, Miss Maureen. He actually was doing a lot of appropriate play which made us very, very happy.

After a while we went outside to sit and Owen was engrossed in the Citronella plant on their deck. He wouldn't leave it alone.

Then, Miss Maureen was ready and Owen was off. He took her hand and just was a listening CHAMP! He knows his routine at the Farm very well. He followed to get his helmet and even tried to put it on.

He actually brushed the horse! They have been working on this for about 4-5 weeks now and he put the brush to the horse and made a real attempt. It was so sweet, and I being a dork had to try and not bawl. He even put back the brush when prompted!

Then it was time to mount, and this was so cute, he has a routine with Maureen that once he's on the horse he helps her put on her glasses. He apparently does this weekly. He's so himself with her and comfortable that it made me really, really happy to see.

Then, he was off. I didn't follow or watch the entire session, I felt I was a distraction and I don't want to disrupt. I walked behind him until they were ready to hit the trails and then returned to the office to wait for the little guy.

As quick as he left, he was back. Maureen said he said "Go" and used the right prompt to have to horse trot back to the house. My Little Show Off, and I love it. :)

Splish Splash!

On Monday we met up with the Camerato/Arasz Team and went to The Funplex in Mt. Laurel. They have a great little water park that Owen adored. He went down the waterslide the 1st time and looked a little unsure as he came down, but when he hit the little pool of water--

He was SOLD!

WARNING! PHOTO OVERLOAD!

And 2 tired kids! :)

A Family 4th

Yesterday was July 4th so we went over to Casey & Jeff's for a BBQ.
Family, great food and a pool! Owen was thrilled!

He was in the pool for a bit with cousin Sarah and Aunt Diane while Daddy put his suit on. He thought it was a scream that Sarah was jumping out from under the water..

Here's Sarah, cute as usual..

After the pool and lunch he was really content to roam the yard. He was having a lot of fun going up and down their stone steps. Ms. Susan, his PT would be proud. Hands Free!
Then there was his swimsuit. I pulled it up SO many times.. But he kept pulling it down! He also loved playing in his "tent", aka the table.

Then it was back in the pool. He didn't want much of his tube on the 2nd dip. I think he wanted to be a big boy. He did a great job practicing his kicking.

We didn't stick around for Fireworks, after his reaction to the train ride yesterday, I figured that was a bad idea.

Hope you had a Happy 4th! Thanks again, Jeff & Casey for a fun time.

Allaire Village

It was really nice out today so we took a ride down to Allaire State Park to walk around the village and take the train ride. We did both, 1 part was great, 1 part, not so great..

We went right to the train ride got our tickets and waited for the train to pull in. Owen was a little cranky, I thought it was because he was a little bored but I tried to press on..

Well, I shouldn't have.

He had a complete meltdown on the train. We were sitting in the open air compartment and he was so upset we actually moved into the caboose and sweated our you know what off. He was a little better in there, but not much.

Once we got off the train, he had a drink, and he was our fun loving, nature boy again.

We just roamed the park, looked around, and let Owen explore. He loved the lake, not to be expected. The boy loves water.

He really looked at all the buildings, he was very curious, and took it all in which was so nice to see. We actually had to call him away from a lot of the buildings to keep moving along..

This photo is my favorite of the day :)

And these!
